FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention™ Marketing Team are looking for talented, dynamic and driven interns to join our team for the FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention™ 2018 season! Community Outreach, Customer Service, Graphic Design, Marketing Research, PR/Media Relations, Social Media and Web Development internships are all available.

It is our goal to instill the basic teachings of marketing and event planning. We hope to provide an excellent opportunity to get hands-on training, gain new skills, and grow your resume at an exciting company. Interns will be working for school credit, FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention™  2018 passes, and a behind-the-scenes experience at the big event.

AVAILABLE INTERNSHIPS

CUSTOMER SERVICE INTERN

The intern will assist Customer Service Manager and other FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention™ marketing team members with social media account maintenance, customer service, and assorted special projects leading up to FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention™ 2018.

Current college students who are interested in working for school credit, FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention™ 2018 passes and perks, and a behind-the-scenes experience at the big event are welcome to apply. Candidate should be studying Business Management, Communications, or similar field with a strong interest in FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention™ and customer service.

Requirements:

  • Must be very comfortable using a computer.
  • A mature, accountable individual with excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Excellent writing skills including grammar, spelling, and attention to detail and format.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to follow verbal and written directions.
  • Have access to a personal laptop, reliable internet access, and reliable transportation.
  • Experience using Google Docs is a plus.

Salary:

  • Candidates must be eligible for school credit, as this is an unpaid internship. Credit can be earned for Summer or Fall 2018 semesters with cooperation with your internship program. The intern will receive FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention™ 2018 passes and other staff perks.

Availability:

  • Customer Service Intern would need to be available at least 15 – 25 hours per week during office hours (Monday-Friday, anytime between 10 am and 7 p.m.) from April 2018 to September 2018. Depending on their work performance, the intern will be allowed to work on some projects from home. The schedule will be determined upon hiring.
  • Must be completely available to work on-site at the Salt Palace Convention Center Thursday, September 6 through Saturday, September 8 at the Salt Palace Convention Center for the big event.
  • The internship will begin in April 2018 after interviews have been completed and will end on Monday, September 17, 2018, when a short follow-up meeting will happen after the show.

MARKETING EVENTS INTERN

FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention is looking for a dynamic, outgoing Marketing Events Intern. Intern will provide general administrative and event planning support to manager and other FanX team members in the areas of marketing events. It will be an excellent opportunity to get exceptional training, gain new skills, and grow with an exciting new company. It is our goal to instill the basic teachings of marketing and event planning. We hope to provide an excellent opportunity to get hands-on training, gain new skills, and grow your resume at an exciting company.

Current college students who are interested in working for school credit, FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention 2018 passes and perks, and a behind-the-scenes experience at the big event are welcome to apply. Candidate should be studying public relations, marketing, communications, bbusiness, or a similar field with a strong interest in FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention.

Requirements:

  • Must have strong PC skills and technology/social media skills
  • Excellent writing skills including grammar, spelling, and attention to detail and format
  • A mature, accountable individual with excellent time management and organization skills
  • Must be very organized, multitask and flexible for changing
  • Must be available weekends
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be enthusiastic, articulate, poised and professional with a positive attitude
  • Must be good at working as part of a team
  • Be able to learn quickly and be trained on special software packages and applications
  • Have access to a personal computer with internet access to be able to work virtually.
  • A reliable car and driver’s license.

  • Our Marketing Events Intern would need to be available at least 15 – 25 hours per week either in the office or at promotional events. Must have weekends available. Depending on their work performance, intern will be allowed to work on projects from home.
  • Must be completely available to work on-site at the Salt Palace Convention Center Thursday, September 6 through Saturday, September 8, 2018 for the FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention 2018 event.
  • Internship will begin after interviews have been completed and will end on Monday, September 17, 2018 when a short follow-up meeting will happen after the show.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH INTERN

FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention™ is looking for dynamic, outgoing Community Outreach Intern.

You’ll work with comic book shops, schools and other businesses to create mutually beneficial partnerships and promotions. In this position, you will come up with creative promotional opportunities and handle fulfillment. This can include things like putting welcome signs in business windows, enter-to-win contests, providing discount coupons, mailing posters, selling tickets to FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention™, working with local nonprofits, etc. You will also be helping FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention™ on its upcoming projects of LUV and STEAM. You will work with businesses primarily in Utah. Some travel (not further than a 40-60 minute drive) will be necessary.

FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention™ is looking for a dynamic, creative Web Administration Intern who has experience with WordPress. You will work with FanX®’s creative department to ensure the completion of official FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention™ webpages. In this position, you will gain experience in web development for a fast-paced company that is on the cutting edge of creative innovation. We hope to provide an excellent opportunity to get hands-on training, gain new skills, and grow your resume at an exciting company.

Current college students who are interested in working for school credit, FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention™ 2018 passes and perks, and a behind-the-scenes experience at the big event are welcome to apply. Candidate should be studying web development, computer science, or a similar field with a strong interest in FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention™ and pop culture.

You will work with FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention’s™ creative department to ensure the completion of official FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention™ collateral, assets and artwork. In this position, you will gain experience in graphic design, marketing, advertising and creating promotional materials in real time for a fast-paced company that is on the cutting edge of creative innovation. Current college students who are interested in working for school credit, FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention™ 2018 passes and perks, and a behind-the-scenes experience at the big event are welcome to apply. Candidate should be studying graphic design, visual communications, digital art, photojournalism, cinematography or a similar field with a strong interest in FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention™ and pop culture.

This internship is ideal for skilled students, who are looking to learn and be challenged by a highly creative work environment while building a killer portfolio.

Requirements:

  • Powerful visual and aesthetic standard with a competent grasp of design principles.
  • Online portfolio with samples that would optimally cover illustration, graphic design, typographic design and fine art.
  • Proficient in using Adobe Photoshop and other Creative Cloud Applications. Final Cut Pro or other Video Application proficiency is a bonus.  
  • Heavy emphasis on photoshop masking skills.
  • Proficiency with WordPress is a big bonus, particularly if possessing programming skill.
