Congratulations on being part of FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention 2018! Below are our tips on how you can best promote your upcoming appearance. Our information will be helpful to Special Guests, Vendors, and Artists.

A full list of Vendors and Artists will be available on our website before the event. When this page goes live, please help us proofread your listing and make sure your information and booth number are correct. Stay tuned for announcements.

VENDOR SHOWCASE

We invite you to participate in the Vendor and Artist Showcase for FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention 2018. Your self-produced Showcase Image will be shared on Facebook and most of our official FanX social networks.

NEW! Since we have months of lead-up time, we are accepting Vendor Showcase submissions RIGHT NOW. You are welcome to submit your Vendor Showcase image twice: once without your booth number, and once with your booth number.

Follow the directions below to submit your Showcase image.

  1. Please create your own promotional art. New size:  square, 1080 x 1080 pixels at 72dpi resolution.
  2. The image needs to be well-designed, artistic, and look cool. Graphics that are low-resolution or don’t meet our visual standards will not be featured.
  3. Make sure you include all important information on your image. Name of business, booth number*, social media links, website, etc. Showcase Image should include clear images of products or artwork you will be selling. (*Coming late Summer 2018)
  4. Submit your Showcase Image as a jpg file to manda@fanxsaltlake.com no later than Friday, August 24, 2018. In the subject line of your email, please identify that you are submitting an image for the Showcase: VENDOR SHOWCASE – [your name]. Images submitted after the deadline cannot be guaranteed to be shared.
  5. Please upload your image to Dropbox or Google Drive, then share the link to your file with us in your email. No email attachments, please.
  6. You will receive an email confirmation that we have received your image. Once approved, your Vendor Showcase image will be added to our Vendor Showcase album on Facebook and most of our official FanX social networks.

Note: we have highlighted some Vendors as “Staff Picks.” These images have included a branded FanX frame as part of the design. There is currently not a template available for non-Staff Pick Vendors to produce their own. FanX branding is not required on your self-produced image. See a great example, here.

USING SOCIAL MEDIA

Using social media networks are a great way to gain attention for your appearance. Read below for our tips on using Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.


OFFICIAL HASHTAGS

Please use the hashtag #FanX18 when making posts online about your convention appearance. We would suggest also using #FanX, #SLCC18 and #saltlakecomicconvention.


FACEBOOK

  1. This is not required, but consider creating a Facebook Page for your business. Pages are for businesses, brands, organizations and public figures to share their stories and connect with people.
  2. Once you have a Facebook Page, you’ll be able to boost your posts using Facebook Ads. You’ll be able to target fans of FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention.
  3. After we announce your participation for the event on Facebook, SHARE your Announcement or Showcase Image from the FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention Facebook Page to your business and/or personal Facebook pages. This will help spread awareness of the event and your appearance.
  4. Don’t forget to post about your upcoming appearance on Facebook on your business and/or personal pages using our official hashtags #SLCC18, #FanX, and #saltlakecomicconvention. We will allow participants to share their post(s) directly into the the Official Event Page for FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention 2018 to post related updates, such as product showcases, special offers, and Exclusives. You can also join our Facebook Group to get to know our fans. Although, your posts in the group must follow our community guidelines.

FACEBOOK EVENT PAGES

  1. On Facebook, you are able to create your own Facebook Event Page for your FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention 2018 appearance. Invite your fans, friends, and family. You can make a Facebook Event Page under your business page or personal account; just make sure it’s public. We suggest naming your event: [BUSINESS NAME] at FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention 2018.
  2. In your Facebook Event Page, add in a Ticket URL, for example: http://fanxsaltlake.com/tickets/ in the space provided. If you’d like a special business affiliate link to earn FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention 2018 tickets or cash, please take advantage of our Share Rewards Business Affiliate Program!
  3. Once your Facebook Event Page is created, add FanX as a co-host for your Facebook event. This will allow our full network of Facebook followers to see your event on their news feed and at facebook.com/saltlakecomicconvention/events. Find instructions on how to add co-hosts HERE.

TWITTER

  1. Twitter is a great place to connect with FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention 2018 attendees. On Twitter, FanX is able to share or retweet promos easier than any other social network. Read below for the specifics required…
  2. Post your own promo image, photo, or video to your own Twitter account. If you’re an artist or vendor, please include images or your artwork or products.
  3. Make sure your image and/or tweet copy includes important info like: Name of business, social media links, website, booth number*, panel information*, etc. (*Coming this summer 2018.)
  4. Also use our official hashtag: #SLCC18
  5. Tag our official Twitter account @fanxsaltlake in your tweet copy and/or image.
  6. Our social media team will retweet as many promos as we can leading up to the event. You or your business must be directly participating with the event. We cannot guarantee any promo will be shared.
  7. Once the social media team has confirmed your official participation, usually via your Announcement or Vendor Showcase image, we can add you to our Twitter List. Write manda@fanxsaltlake.com if you wish to be added to the list.

INSTAGRAM

  1. Instagram is a great visual social network where you can share photos, videos, and post to your own story for real-time updates. Live broadcasting and targeted advertising are also an options.
  2. When posting about your upcoming appearance on Instagram, make sure your image and/or copy includes important info like: Name of business, social media links, website, booth number*, panel information*, etc. (*Coming this summer 2018.)
  3. Also use our official hashtag: #SLCC18. On Instagram, you can follow any hashtag; the posts will appear in your newsfeed. It’s a great way to find other FanX fans and participating guests.
  4. Tag our official Instagram account @fanxsaltlake in your tweet copy and/or image. Tagging the image will add your post to our Tagged Posts tab on our profile.
  5. If you are announced as a guest on our official Instagram, you can use an app, like Repost, to share your announcement onto your own Instagram feed or story. This will help increase awareness of your appearance.
  6. Usually closer to the event, our social media team will repost as many promos as we can. You or your business must be directly participating with the event. We cannot guarantee any promo will be shared.

HOST A SOCIAL MEDIA CONTEST

Social media contests are a great way to raise awareness of your appearance and grow your social media following. We find that contests work best on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Check out this article for social media contest suggestions.

You are welcome to share your contest(s) into our official FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention 2018 Facebook Event Page. Please note, Artists/Vendors are responsible for providing giveaway prizes and fulfilling prizes to winners.

SUBMIT AN EXCLUSIVE

What is an Exclusive?
A fantastic way to get your FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention 2018 appearance noticed is by offering an Exclusive! It is common at conventions for Guests, Vendors, and Artists to offer an exclusive item or offer that is only valid for that particular show. Offer a limited-edition print, debut your book, offer a discount, or even a freebie with purchase to drive attendees to your booth.

Offering an Exclusive is a great way to gain exposure for yourself or your business during FanX® Salt Lake Comic Convention 2018, September 6-8, 2018. Learn how to submit your Exclusive below:

How do I submit an Exclusive?

  • Submit your Exclusive item or offer to outreach@fanxsaltlake.com by Friday, August 24, 2018. Send the details of your exclusive item/offer, plus an image of your product or logo. We cannot guarantee that your Exclusive will be shared if sent after the deadline.
  • Please upload any images to Dropbox or Google Drive, then share the link to your file with us in your email. No email attachments please.
  • You will receive an email confirmation that we have received your item/offer. Once approved, your item/offer will be added to our Exclusives page on our website, which will be shared on all of our social media sites prior to the event.
